What is the time limit for having an abortion? An abortion may only be carried out up to the 24th week of the pregnancy. If you are less than 17 days overdue, the mandatory five-day wait time does not apply
After the 24th week, a doctor may only terminate the pregnancy for serious medical reasons, for instance, because the fetus is not viable outside the mother’s body. In such cases, the doctor must observe the due care criteria (only in Dutch) for late termination of pregnancy.
If you are a minor, you generally need the consent of your parents or guardian. This also depends on your age.
By law, young people under the age of 18 need the consent of their parents or guardians for certain types of medical treatment:
Your parents must give consent before you can have an abortion.
You need your parents’ consent. But if there are special circumstances, you should contact your GP or a doctor at an abortion clinic. The doctor will then decide whether you fully understand the consequences of your decision to have an abortion. Doctors have a duty of confidentiality to their patients. So they will not inform your parents about the abortion unless you agree.
You only need your parents’ consent if the doctor decides that you are unable to make a well-considered decision on your own.
You are not a minor and do not need your parent’s consent for an abortion.
Female Vaccinations (e.g. Humanpappilomavirus), Pregnancy testing, HIV Testing, and Pap Smears are a few of the extensive range of services available from this clinic. Consultations on other female issues can be provided and dealt with on a professional level.
